Tomato form design sketch signed by Edward Hald.

This sketch was found in a book had a personal inscription from Hald with the same date as the sketch.  The ink inscription in the book reads
 
"To Mrs Kathleen & Richard Austin Smith
as a souvenir of the visit to Orrefors
29/9  1958
from
Edward Hald"
 
Above that is a pencil inscription in a different handwriting implying it is a personal copy of E Hald. It reads
 
"Hald - Orrefors
F? Röhsska expo
9th, Sept 58"
 
I cannot find dates of the 1958 exhibition at Röhsska museum. As the sketch and the inscription are made on the same date 'perhaps' he did the sketch and made the sculpture for the recipients. Although this would seem less likely if it was dated during the exhibition but if the couple visited the glassworks shortly after this exhibition then it may make sense.
 
I have traced the couple. Richard was an author, editor of Fortune magazine and a collector of rare classic cars and died sometime after 1998. A number of books inscribed to him have appeared on the market.
